Week of March 1-5
Terri Lynn Nut Sale started March 2, 2010, for 7th & 8th grade band students to earn money towards their Festival Band trip. You will receive $1 credit per item sold. All orders and money are due by March 15, 2010
Aiken County Band Clinic, March 4, 2010, North Augusta High School (Participants need to bring instrument, pencils, $7 for lunch, and full uniforms in a garment bag with your named clearly printed on the outside.) Parents and friends are invited to hear the concert at 7 PM in the NAHS gym.
Congratulations also to NAMS Aiken County Band Winners: Sara Larabee, Flute 8; Angel Brooks, Flute 7; Leah Faircloth, Flute 7; Angel Watts, Clarinet 8; Katelyn Wilhite, Clarinet 8; Joselyn Lopez, Clarinet 7; Amber Flicek, Oboe 8; Emily Wilson, Alto Sax, 7; Blake Sloan, Alto Sax 7; Seth Rosznyai, Trumpet 7; Collin Loring, Trumpet 8; Sergio Brito, Trumpet 8; William Kalbskof, Trombone 8; Alex Sims, Baritone 7; AJ Greenwood, Tuba 8; Chase Marzullo, Mallets 7; Katianna Smith, Mallets 8. They will participate in the Aiken County Band at North Augusta High School on March 4, 2010.
PERMISSION SLIPS FOR ALL FIELD TRIPS DUE. 7TH & 8TH GRADE FESTIVAL BAND MUST ALSO HAVE A MEDICAL RELEASE FORM SIGNED.
CHAPERONES: WE HAVE ENOUGH CHAPERONES FOR ALL OF THE FIELD TRIPS EXCEPT THE 8TH GRADE FESTIVAL BAND TRIP ON TUESDAY, MARCH 30, 2010. WE NEED 2-4 MORE CHAPERONES FOR THIS TRIP. PLEASE LET MS. JENKINS KNOW ASAP IF YOU CAN CHAPERONE ON MARCH 30, 2010.
Field Trips Coming up for every grade level band:
March 10, 2010 - 7th & 8th grade brass students will attend a performance of the American Brass Quintet at the North Augusta High School auditorium. We will need 4 adult chaperones to go with us to the concert on the morning of March 10, 2010. (9:00 AM- 10:45 AM). There is not cost to the students. Please let Ms. Jenkins know if you can chaperone.
March 11, 2010 - 6th grade band students will attend the Kidz Bop concert at the Etheredge Center at USC-Aiken. The Kidz Bop concert is being presented by the Juilliard Jazz Quintet of the Juilliard in Aiken project. We need 10 adult chaperones to go with us to the concert on the morning of March 11, 2010. (8:30-11:00 am) Please let Ms. Jenkins know if you can chaperone this trip.
March 30, 2010 - 8th grade band students will participate in the SCBDA Concert Festival in Charleston, SC. They will present a concert of three pieces for the judges to critique and rate. Afterwards, the will have a picnic lunch at Isle of Palms County Park, and then go downtown to the City Market. We need 7-8 chaperones for this trip. If you can go, please let Ms. Jenkins know ASAP.

Remember, all band monies turned in must be put in an envelope with your child's name, what the money is for, and the amount listed on the envelope. Checks should always be made out to NA Band Boosters, and the money envelope should be placed in the band booster drop box on the wall inside the band room.

This is an incredible program for your computer that can be a great motivator for practicing. Purchasing a microphone and a SmartMusic subscription for the year will allow your child access to much music. Numerous method books and musical charts are at your disposal.
